Friends of Brooks & Dunn
"Kix and Ronnie are legends. We respect them and appreciate all they've done to pave the way-but they're getting old, so they better watch out ... we're after their asses," laughs Montgomery Gentry.

Reba McEntire says, "Like Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash were the songwriters who created the classic country songs of their generation, Ronnie and Kix have written some of the songs that will become classics of our generation. They work extremely hard to deliver live shows that thrill the fans, which is so important in having a long-term career. They're great to tour with, and I'm lucky to have them as my friends."

Toby Keith says, "Ronnie is a great honky-tonk singer--probably the best in a long time--and a real good songwriter. Throw in Kix Brooks' songwriting and energetic performances, and you end up with an electric rodeo."

Dick Clark agrees. "Part of the magic of Brooks & Dunn lies in the way they present themselves. They truly enjoy their performances. The music is great, but their personalitiesEthey endear themselves to the audience," he says, still laughing about an incident that happened at the Academy of Country Music Awards that only went to prove that the show must go on. "As part of their road show scenery, Brooks & Dunn had a giant inflatable bull; it was as big as the whole stage. Well, that bull decided to collapse in the middle of the act on live television. We got a lot of mileage out of that. The sagging bull--it was a riot, and the joy of live television."

They hail from Cowboy Town

Cowboy Town, the dynamic country duo’s 13th (very lucky) album, proves they still got it! Their first single, "Proud of the House We Built," is a great accomplishment--in Brooks and Dunn’s case, they not only built a house, but rather an entire empire. Since being paired up by a label executive in 1990, the duo (whose partnership has lasted longer than most Hollywood marriages) has won more Country Music Awards and Academy of Country Music Awards than any other act in country music.

Their concerts are long-running events that involve confetti, props and yes, even inflatable bulls. After all, they are known for bringing honky-tonk back with their “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” in the mid-1990s.

Brooks and Dunn just want to have a good time—Country style!

Road Signs

Detour Ahead: Before they became country’s most famous musicians, the stars had to navigate a few curves. It took a combined four decades for them to make it big.

Children Crossing: In addition to being world-famous musicians, they are family men. Brooks is married to Barbara and has two children, Molly and Eric. Dunn’s married to Janine and has three children, Whitney, Jesse and Haley, with his first wife.

Yield: Though the thought may have entered their minds at some point, quitting is not in their vocabulary. Just for selfish reasons. I've thought sometimes about maybe [recording solo] just a record of music that no one would listen to but me," Dunn has said. "But there's a dynamic that's even hard for us to see that makes this thing work and gives it magic. When you separate it, at some point it is going to suffer, and I don't think that's necessary--not for the benefit of either one of us being a solo artist.

Speed Limit: Since their debut album, Brand New Man which sold 2.5 million copies and yielded four Number One hits, they haven’t slowed down.

Stop: Yeah right!
